ABOUT THE ORATORS
The Bridgeport Orators play other teams throughout the Northeast in various
tournaments, exhibitions and scrimmages. The Orators will follow the rules and customs
of the game as it was played in the nineteenth century. Special care and attention has
been and will continue to be put fourth toward authenticity and good sportsmanship.

The recreated Bridgeport Orators are a Not-For-Profit
organization formed to preserve and compete in our
national pastime as it was played during it’s formative
years in the Park City. The recreated Orators will work
with the city of Bridgeport and surrounding communities to
educate the public regarding the character, history and
growth of the game with attention to the historical context
in which it was played.

ORATORS UNIFORM
While the recreated Orators will play all styles of the
vintage game during the nineteenth century our focus is on
the game and rules of the1860s and 1880s. The Orators
Home matches will be played in Bridgeport, CT at Seaside
Park.

Spectators and fans (or Cranks as
they were called) of the Orators will
have an opportunity to step back in
time and experience our national
pastime like never before. Base ball
was a gentleman's game where good
sportsmanship and character was
expected. We intend to honor those
pioneers of this wonderful game by
promoting and adhering to those same
principals today.

to save, preserve and restore the O'Rourke family home on
Pembroke Avenue. In all that we do as an organization, we
will do with the intention of keeping the memory alive of the
Orator himself and his proud legacy. The Orators will work
closely with organizations such as the First Hit Inc. who
share in this common goal.
